Laundry

I have discovered that sight seeing the facades can contain a very intimate moment when people dry their laundry outside. It turns my camera into a voyeur of their privacy.

Jastarnia, Polish Baltic Sea coast (2010)
Polish people put their laundry outside as soon as the weather allows it.

Nordstrand at the German Wadden Sea, 2010
Germans do not do this as much - it is culturally not well seen to spoil a facade by the sight of your underwear. But in Nord Friesland there are not many people around so here you go.

Coimbra, Portugal, 2011
Portugese are champions in drying their laundry outside. Sometimes you can imagine the family members by the shape of the trousers outside.

Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, 2011
Sometimes the laundry hangs directly on the side of the side walk.

Porto, 2011
Sometimes the laundry adds decorative value to the facade.
